Equal Opportunity Tribunal
"The Power of Fairness"

The Equal Opportunity Tribunal was established by the Equal Opportunity Act, Chap 22:03 as a superior court of record, with a statutory underpinning to eliminate discrimination and promote equal opportunity. It is chaired by a distinguished Judge, holding a stature equal to that of a High Court Judge.

Our Jurisdiction

Religion

Additional Mandates
Beyond our core focus of discrimination on the above grounds, we also determine complaints of:
-
Victimisation for making or supporting discrimination claims; and
-
Offensive behaviour - includes the publication of words, sounds, or images related to, race, gender, ethnicity, origin, or religion that aim to stir up racial, gender or religious hatred.
-

Our Powers
The Tribunal has a vast and wide capability to make declarations, grant injunctions and award compensation as it thinks fit to justly resolve complaints. The Tribunal is firmly committed to the rule of law as a guiding principle in the administration of justice.

In a society founded on democratic principles, the very existence of the Tribunal underscores a deep-seated commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity. The Tribunal continues on a daily basis to administer justice to advance equality one complaint at a time.
If you or anyone you know has faced discrimination, the protection provided by the Equal Opportunity Act may offer a solution.
